The End of XP is Near!
By now many of you have probably upgraded your computers to the latest and greatest. Lets face it computers with Windows XP on them are probably on their last leg by now since XP came out over 10 years ago. Arguably, one of Microsoft's best operating systems, XP will be dying shortly. April 8, 2014 is the end of extended support for Windows XP. This means that Microsoft will no longer provide valuable Windows Updates or Security Patches, and they will no longer support it by phone.
So, you may be asking what does this mean to me. If you do not have Windows XP as an operating system on your computer, it means absolutely nothing. If you are still running Windows XP you need to act soon. Without these security patches, your computer will be left vulnerable to hackers trying to get your sensitive information. Fortunately there are two options for those who need to upgrade their operating system.
Option one is purchasing an upgrade CD from your local Staples, Best Buy, or us and upgrade your operating system. Windows 7 upgrades are getting harder to find with the introduction of Windows 8. You will most likely need to do a fresh install which means all of your files will need backed up. Option two is to go out and purchase a brand new computer system. I prefer option two because it ensures hardware compatibility with the operating system. A good rule of thumb is that if your computer has less than 2GB of RAM, you will need to purchase a new computer.
As always we can help you with anything that you may need for your system. If you would like us to handle your upgrade please let us know, and we would be happy to help. Don't leave your information vulnerable, upgrade soon.
